Stansted Airport passenger services informationIf you need to send a letter or postcard from Stansted, you'll find post boxes in Check-in Zone E, next to WHSmith and in international arrivals, near WHSmith. St amps can be purchased at any branch of WHSmith newsagents.

Please be aware that you cannot post parcels using the post boxes for security reasons, and that anything you do post may be inspected by HM Customs.

There are showers in the departure lounge (after security) and in arrivals at Stansted. Just go to the airport information desk and for a small charge they will give you access and provide you with a towel.

Disabled Facilities at London Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport disability servicesThere are good facilities for people with special needs, including induction loops: look for the sympathetic ear sign and hearing and guide dogs are allowed in the airport.

When you arrive at Stansted Airport you can request help getting to check-in at any of the Help Phones, located beside the main terminal doors.

There are also Help Call Points along the outer set down lanes of the terminal forecourt and in each zone of the Short Stay Car Park.

As it is some distance to the boarding gates there is a transit train that runs to connect you from the departures lounge and again to arrivals on your return.  These trains are wheelchair friendly.

Reserved seating is also available throughout the terminal building.

  • After security, family room just behind the departure lounge information desk.
  • Gates 1 - 19: family room near Gate 13.
  • Gates 20 - 39: family room near Gates 33/34.
  • Gates 40 - 50: family room near Gate 43.
  • Gates 51 - 59: family room near Gate 59.
  • Gates 81 - 88: baby change within accessible and ladies toilet

On arrival:

  • International Baggage Reclaim: family room near reclaim 1, baby change in both toilets near reclaim 9.
  • UK Baggage Reclaim: baby change in ladies toilet.
  • Arrivals route from Gates 40 - 59: baby change within accessible toilet
  • Main arrivals greeting area: baby change cubicles in both ladies and gents toilets.

Most restaurants and bars provide high chairs and children's menus. Branches of Boots pharmacy supply essentials including babies nappies, formula milk and baby wipes.

Colouring packs containing crayons and a colouring book can be picked up free from Frankie & Benny's or J D Wetherspoon.

W H Smith has plenty of magazines, comics and puzzle books to keep children entertained in the lounges and on the plane..

The Voyager Entertainment Centre offers a selection of video games ideal for older children. There are branches before and after security.

Executive/VIP Lounges at London Stansted Airport

No.1 Lounge is a new space which has a library, bistro and bar area. The main features are:

  • fresh seasonal dishes prepared to order.
  • Complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks, tea, coffee and snacks
  • Wireless internet access, payphones and fax
  • A selection of newspapers and magazines.

Because the No 1 Lounge is located adjacent to gates 15 - 19 it is ideal for travellers departing on all international flights, except for Ryanair, which departs from Satellite 3. 

Servisair Executive Lounge provides:

  • Complimentary alcoholic and soft drinks, tea, coffee and snacks.
  • Wireless internet access, payphones and fax.
  • A selection of newspapers and magazines.

Because of its location, this lounge is for departing passengers only, and is not available to those flying with Ryanair or on domestic flights with easyJet.

A separate charge is made for champagne, and for internet access and business facilities in both lounges.

Internet & Wi-Fi at London Stansted Airport

You will also find telephone-style internet kiosks where you can check your email or access the internet.

There are Wireless hotspots in the terminals with a choice of service providers. There are BT Openzone chairs with power sockets before security (check-in Zone G) and a T-Mobile laptop zone where you can plug in after security, in the departures lounge. You will need a wireless compatible (Wi-fi 802.11b) device.

Transporting Pets at London Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport flying petsGuide dogs and hearing assistance dogs are the only pets allowed into the airport.  Obviously, first of all check that the airline you are going to book with offers the service of transferring pets.

If you wish to fly your pet in or out of the UK, then you will need to check that your pet has the correct vaccinations and passport. If your pet qualifies then it will remove the need for them to spend six months in quarantine.

All ATM cash dispensers will accept most UK bank and building society cards (Link affiliated) without surcharge. They also accept major credit cards (but a charge is usually made for this service).

There is a Moneycorp bureau de change at Stansted Airport. No need to pre-pay, just pay on collection. Please allow 24 hours from the time of order to collection. If you need your currency within 24 hours, please call +44 (0)1279 681 833.

Chapel at London Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport chapelThe airport chapel at Stansted Airport provides a prayer room for all faiths and denominations. It can be found in Check-in Zone J, opposite Caffè Alba (before security control).  Opening hours are 05:00 to 23:00 daily.
