Weather on the Isle of Man
The Isle of Man enjoys a temperate climate with cool summers and mild winters. Its average rainfall is higher than the British Isles because of its location on the western side of the UK and a sufficient distance from Ireland for moisture to be accumulated by the prevailing south-westerly winds. Rainfall is highest at Snaefel at around 1900 mm a year. At lower levels it falls to around 800 mm a year.
With the sea breezes temperatures on the island remain fairly cool, with the recorded maximum being 28.9ºC at The Isle of Man Airport at Ronaldsway.
There are few natural hazards on the Isle of Man: the most common being high winds, rough seas and dense fog. Water patterns show that snowfall has decreased significantly over the past century with temperatures increasing year round and rainfall decreasing.
Depending on the time of year you are visiting Isle of Man and if you are hiring a car it is worth considering whether or not you need one with air conditioning.
