Trains at Isle of Man Airport
The nearest station to the airport is Ronaldsway Halt which just across from the terminal (although not easy to find) and trains only stop here on request. For the airport take the Ronaldsway stop and you will have to let the guard know when you get on the train otherwise it will not stop. The best station to use is Ballasalla which is a 10 minute walk away.
Steam trains operate four times daily Mar-Oct on the route: Douglas - Port Soderick - Santon - Ballasalla (for the airport) - Castletown - Ballabeg - Colby - Port St Mary - Port Erin
Trains depart Ballasalla going North towards Douglas daily at 10:45, 12:45, 14:45 & 16:45. To Douglas 30 mins.
Trains go South towards Port Erin daily at 10:45, 12:45, 14:45 & 16:45. To Castletown 7 mins and to Port Erin 30 mins.
Trains depart Port Erin going North towards Ballasalla & Douglas daily at 10:15, 12:15, 14:15 & 16:15. Trains depart Douglas heading South towards Ballasalla & Port Erin daily at 10:15, 12:15, 14:15 & 16:15.
Single and Return tickets are available from all Railway Stations. Below is an example of current prices for the steam railway:
Douglas to Ballasalla: single £3.40 and return £5.60 (this would be a similar price for the Ronaldsway stop for the airport).
Douglas to Castletown: single £4 and return £6.80
Douglas to Port Erin: single £5.40 and return £9
Note that 2 children per paying adult under 5 travel free and one child per full paying adult aged 5 to 16 also travels free. All other children will travel for half fare
Isle of Man Electric & Steam Railways
The electric railway (tram) runs from Douglas to Ramsey and the steam railway travels through the south of the island .Services start from Douglas (Derby Castle) at 09:40 and run at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour. The last tram is at 16:10. You can make a connection with the steam railway and onto the Ronaldsway stop for the airport.
The route for this service is Groudle, Baldrine, South Cape, Laxey, Dhoon, Ballaglass, Ballajora and stops at Ramsey tram station.
