Weather at Belfast George Best Airport

Belfast weatherBelfast's climate is temperate with plenty of rainfall - particularly between August and January. Temperatures in the summer average around 64°F (18°C) and in winter, 43°F (6°C); there are seldom extremes. There is some snow and sleet in winter, but due to Belfast's coastal location it only averages two to three days a year.

The whole of Northern Ireland has a temperate maritime climate which tends to be wetter in the west than the east, with persistent cloud cover across the region. The weather is unpredictable at all times of the year, and although the seasons are distinct, they are considerably less pronounced than in Europe. Average daytime maximums in Belfast are 6.5 °C (43.7 °F) in January and 17.5 °C (63.5 °F) in July. The damp climate and extensive deforestation in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries have resulted in much of the region being covered in rich green grassland.
